Polylactic acid (PLA) is a fiber obtained through the fermentation and polymerization of crops in nature represented by corn and through melt spinning and other processes. PLA can be naturally degraded in nature, and can be decomposed into carbon dioxide and water by microorganisms in soil or seawater, and when burned, PLA will not emit poisonous gas or cause pollution, thus realizing a completely natural carbon cycle, and is a very promising fiber material in the 21st century. The sustainable development of the characteristics of the PLA products are widely used in clothing, construction, medical and other areas.

PLA has the following characteristics:

1. Biodegradability

PLA fiber has good biodegradability, after being discarded, PLA can be completely decomposed in nature into CO₂ and H₂O. Both of them, through photosynthesis, can be turned into lactic acid raw material - starch. PLA fiber, if buried with other organic waste, will decompose in a few months, and can be completely decomposed into CO₂ and H₂O. and H₂O.

The density of PLA is 1.27g/cm³, PLA is a lightweight fiber, and PLA dries quickly when wetted by water, without the feeling of sticky and heavy.The Young's modulus of PLA is between polyester and nylon, so PLA feels harder than nylon and softer than polyester.The refractive index of PLA is low, and PLA has the elegant luster like real silk.

3. Quick moisture absorption, dry warmth

PLA fiber can play different functions according to different seasons. In winter, the thermal insulation is more than 20% higher than cotton and polyester fiber. In summer, it has excellent moisture permeability and water diffusion, absorbs sweat and dries quickly, and can take away body heat quickly through evaporation.

PLA fiber and its fabrics do not absorb ultraviolet rays, and their strength and elongation are not affected much under long-term exposure to ultraviolet rays.

6. Moisture absorption and anti-pilling properties
